Chocolate City in Perugia: Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May – free entry
Saturday 9 May and Sunday 10 May
Among this weekend’s events are Giovanni Castaldi’s cooking show
and the second theatre tour exploring the places associated with Luisa Spagnoli
Mother’s Day is fast approaching and the City of Chocolate is getting ready to celebrate one of the sweetest occasions of the year. To mark the occasion, on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May, the ‘Mamma extra fondente, sweetness without limits!’ promotion will be running, offering free entry for all mums along with a delicious chocolate treat.
A special day to say “thank you, Mum” whilst strolling through a charming, faithfully recreated cocoa forest and trying your hand at engaging experiences to discover the much-loved Food of the Gods. There are plenty of activities to create joyful memories in the evocative setting of the largest experiential museum dedicated to cocoa and chocolate: from the Bean to Bar Factory to the ChocoLab, via the PiantaLab and the Diversity Testings, where you can discover, through the five senses, the history and characteristics of the world’s finest cocoa. The promotion is valid only for tickets purchased at the ticket office.
Furthermore, on 10 May, from 11am to 12pm, the City of Chocolate will host Giovanni Castaldi, food creator and face of GialloZafferano, for an exclusive cooking show dedicated to those who love experimenting with original combinations of cuisine, creativity and chocolate. The event, for which booking is essential on 3783093537, takes place at the LAB – Luisa Annibale Base, one of the key locations where Perugia’s chocolate history has its roots.
A further focus on one of the most enterprising and brilliant women in the world of chocolate – and beyond – was therefore a must: “Luisa fu Sargentini Spagnoli”. This is the title of the walking tour organised in collaboration with Teatro di Sacco, which has crafted an engaging narrative around the fascinating figure of Luisa Spagnoli: a journey through theatre, the city and memory, exploring the places – in the historic centre of Perugia – linked to Luisa Spagnoli’s eventful life.
Following the success of the first event, a second tour is scheduled for Saturday 9 May at 5 pm, starting from Via Alessi 23, the site of the first Perugina workshop. The tour will then proceed to Corso Cavour, where her sister-in-law ran a dressmaking shop and where, at the Sala Cutu, an exclusive close encounter between the protagonist and the audience will take place. The script for this original theatrical tour is by Fiorenza Mosci, performed by Roberto Biselli and Angela Pellicciari.
