Medieval Spring in Bevagna

Medieval Spring in Bevagna

MEDIEVAL SPRING 2026
30 APRIL – 3 MAY

Francis, the saint who called the Sun his brother

A tribute to Francis of Assisi, 800 years after his death

From 30 April to 3 May, historians, university lecturers, researchers, musicians, jugglers and merchants will gather to explore the life of the ‘poor man of Assisi’. There will be plenty of talks, workshops, guided tours and concerts, alongside the traditional attractions of the Mercato delle Gaite and the Spring Festival: medieval crafts, the taverns of the four Gaite, and a 14th-century market in the square.

Here’s what you’ll find

MEDIEVAL TAVERNS

The taverns of the four districts are reopening their kitchens to serve you dishes inspired by the Middle Ages and the time of St Francis!

MEDIEVAL TRADES

The Mercato delle Gaite Medieval Crafts Trail will allow you to visit the painter’s workshop, the candle-maker’s, the paper-maker’s and the silk-maker’s, even during the atmospheric evening hours!
